Snoopy’s Magic Fun Land is a game with Snoopy, the dog from Peanut. Snoopy can use six tricks to win, and collect all of the birds. Woodstock, and the others. Snoopys Circus Charlie is a game, it is a game! We are having a stroke.
Snoopy’s Magic Show (we do keep wanting to call it snoopys magic circus or Snoopy's Magic Land sorry if that makes it into the final) is a very early Game Boy game developed by Kemco. Mobygames says this is a puzzle game, and we’re not so sure it is. But, that’s the criteria we set for ourselves and we must follow it. The game centers around Snoopy trying to collect Woodstock’s (plural, there’s many of them) while a ball bounces around. There are blocks you can push (sometimes,) blocks that reappear and disappear, teleporter blocks, and destructable blocks that can hold powerups. And of course, there’s a time limit, and we enjoy that the time goes around the perimeter of the screen like uh, was that William’s Bubbles that did that? No, it was some Williams or Atari arcade game, we can’t remember.
That’s really it. According to the game there’s more than 100 stages so you can get a lot of playtime out of this one. The bouncing balls are the biggest problem for us, it can get stuck in one place then come out at just the right time to kill you, or can trap you at one end of an alleyway and you’re doomed. The physics are not determanistic so it can change slightly from one try to another, but the first few bounces are usually the same. The game is very generous with extra lives so game over’s aren’t common. Even if you do game over you can continue from the same place and only lose your score. Oh, also if there’s more than one ball on screen which happens in a lot of levels the game lags like crazy, kinda makes it easier.
How does Snoopy factor into this game? Honestly not sure, it feels like Kemco made a puzzler and slapped the Snoopy IP on there for marketing. It is nice that there was some care involved, Snoopys brother Spike is on the title screen sometime’s thats fun. It’s really more of an action puzzler than it is a pure puzzle game. It’s very simple but we can see a child quite enjoying it. There isn’t much in terms of replay value for us, though. Sorry Snoopy heads, this game isn’t the most engaging. Now Snoopy’s Tennis for the Game & Watch that’s an engaging title, lots to do. Teehee. We just noticed that the title screen for the game gets the title wrong, it says SNOOPY magic show not SNOOPY’S magic show. That’s funny.
